Buster Williams Trio
Bassist Buster Williams is a true Jazz legend, known for his work with Herbie Hancock, Nancy Wilson, Chet Baker, Kenny Barron, Roy Ayers, Art Blakey, Dexter Gordon, Shirley Horn, and dozens of other jazz luminaries. A native of Camden, New Jersey, he’s been winning awards since 1979, when he received a GRAMMY. His rock-solid technique and understanding of counterpoint, harmony, and orchestration have made him a key proponent of the bass as a legit and fully-articulated solo instrument, all the while being acknowledged as one of jazz’s most enduring and importand sidemen. The Penguin Guide to Jazz on CD says, “Buster's harmony is impeccable and he has a rhythmic sense that is unfailing, feeling, and utterly original."
Williams returns to Vancouver for the first time in seven years with noted pianist George Colligan (known for his work with Christian McBride, Lee Konitz, Phil Woods and more) and drummer Domo Branch (known for his work with Wynton Marsalis, Terence Blanchard, Diane Reeves and more).
